I've got 29, Snows from my first evening and Zed's last night. I very literally stabbed him in the eye. but I think a bit of laaaag helped me.

If it's anything like the first Bad Company it'll be the rank of the victim when Burgerface's knife caught up with them. Low ranks are bronze, mid ranks are silver, and if you stab a top rank I presume it'll be gold (always believe in your soul).

i think it actually goes with if you are a veteran or not.

Yes, the dog-tags colour (color for some), is different sometimes, it's based on the Rank of your victim at the time.
Rank 1-21 Bronze
Rank 22-41 Silver
Rank 43- 50 Gold
